Subject: Who knew atomic subs could be so boring
The first half of this short subject about atomic submarines is the most boring animation I have seen in a long time. The action picks up a litle when the live action cuts in with the launch of the USS Nautilus (then she's gone for the rest of the picture) and lots of footage of the development of the USS Seawolf. The best part of the film is a shot of the battleship USS Missouri firing her 16-inch guns.

Subject: GE: We Bring Atomic Submarines to Life!
Fairly dull film made by General Electric to document the creation of the first two atomic submarines, and to champion GEÂs role in the development of one of them. In fact, the non-GE submarine, the Nautilus, was considered so unimportant that the section of the film devoted to it goes immediately from introducing it to showing it being christened, so that more time can be devoted to describing the development of the GE submarine, the Sea Wolf. A huge sphere is shown that had some important role or other in the development of the submarineÂs engine; it isnÂt really clear what, or maybe I just wasnÂt paying attention, which gives you an idea of how much interest this film stimulates in its subject matter.

Pretty interesting doc about how the US was racing to get Nuclear Submarines out to sea. We start by showing truly amazing footage of missles in the water hitting a ship. This all LOOKED real. Then it starts going a little too science techy by explaining how atomic energy works, and how they have to fit it into a submarine, Some prototypes are shown, one is done, the other being tested in a mysterious sphere. And then the film ends.. Such build up to a rushed conclusion! Anyways..
